Hello and welcome!

I’m Sara, the girl holding the sword knife that creates the recipes you’ll see on this site!

While I was born in California, I spent most of my life growing up in Western Massachusetts. I lived a year in Vermont, and went to college in Hartford, CT. I moved back to California in the summer of 2014 for graduate school, where I currently reside in a tiny but terrific studio apartment in Oakland.

By profession I am a choir conductor and music director, a job and a passion. Cooking, baking, and creating in the kitchen started as a necessity, but over the years it has become one of my greatest sources of enjoyment.

On The Sword in the Scone you’ll find a bit of everything. I eat a balanced, whole diet, full of color and nutrients. I source organic ingredients when practical, and local when possible. I love a colorful salad as much as a crispy french fry. Naturally sweetened, gluten-free cookies as much as a freshly filled jelly donut. Good food shouldn’t only help us to be healthy, but happy as well.
